ASSIGNMENT DETAILS/ GRADING CRITERIA:
Discussion Forums: The instructor will post a total of three (3) discussion questions for responses to students and their peers. Please respond to different students each week so everyone has the opportunity to respond to each other throughout the course. Each response should be thoughtful and supported by citations from assigned readings or other current and reliable references. All responses must be posted by the designated due dates.
Faculty frequently post questions in response to posts to stimulate further discussion. Points will be deducted when students do not respond to inquiries made to foster discussion.
Please remember to be courteous and professional in your interactions with your colleagues. Keep an open mind as you begin your online learning experience. The online learning community is enriched through the interactions with colleagues and the sharing of various experiences, ideas, and insights.
Course faculty will participate in the discussions by acting as a moderator and facilitator of learning. The faculty will not necessarily respond to all student posts. Research shows that students learn from each other as much as from the faculty in online discussion.
Health Care Reform Scholarly Paper: The purpose of this paper is to explore the ethical debates that are revolving around healthcare reform. Research at least 2 evidence-based articles about the healthcare reform. Identify, explore and describe 2 key ethical dilemmas you believe will influence healthcare delivery in the United States as a result of the healthcare reform. What are the ethical issues? Why do you considered these ethical issues? What ethical principles do they fall under? What is your professional stance regarding these issues? How will these issues affect your practice, and the practice of nurses around the country? What collateral issues may arise from these issues you have identified? As a profession, what is our responsibility in terms of our role within healthcare reform? How will healthcare reform affect the profession’s ability to influence health nationally?
The maximum length of this paper is 15 pages. The APA 6th edition should be used for this scholarly paper. The title page and reference list are not considered as part of the 15-page maximum. More specific paper requirements and grading rubric will be provided as part of a learning module.

NETIQUETTE:
Effective communication is necessary in most every encounter and the online learning environment is no different. Just as proper behavior is expected in a face to face classroom, proper behavior defined as “netiquette” is required in the online environment. Whether this is your first online course or your last in the program, it is important to review netiquette guidelines frequently to make sure that your communication is both effective and professional. Please review the “Core Rules of Netiquette” written by Virginia Shea at http://www.albion.com/netiquette/corerules.html with the understanding that students will be held accountable for the consistent use of netiquette in the online environment.
